About our Organization
Established in 1958, Northeast Michigan Family Resource Center, formerly known as Child & Family Services of Northeast Michigan, traces its roots back to a field office of the Michigan Children's Aid Society. Over the years, our agency has been a steadfast advocate for the well-being of families and individuals in Northeast Michigan, addressing critical issues such as child abuse and neglect, juvenile delinquency, family relationship breakdowns, homelessness among children, and the needs of those with special requirements. As a child welfare agency, Northeast Michigan Family Resource Center is dedicated to nurturing the social and emotional well-being of our community by fostering healthy personality and social skill development while simultaneously strengthening family functioning. Throughout our history, we have implemented a range of programs, from specialized foster care to adoption and various Great Start initiatives, all tailored to address the unique needs of the region.
Exciting developments are on the horizon for Northeast Michigan Family Resource Center. In early 2024, we will proudly transition into the Northeast Michigan Family Resource Center, retaining and enhancing our existing programs while introducing innovative initiatives. Among these is the "Pint-Size Playland," a creative child development space designed as a mini city or community, featuring areas such as a grocery store, fire station, library, and farm. Additionally, Northeast Michigan Family Resource Center will offer a diverse menu of parenting/caregiver interactive workshops, accessible in-person, online, and through hybrid formats. Our commitment to community support will be further solidified with a dedicated kiosk offering targeted resources and referrals, a resource lending library supported by the Great Start to Quality Northeast Resource Center, and a life skills training and development center for youth. Available to parents, caregivers, early childhood educators, and the broader community across all surrounding counties, Northeast Michigan Family Resource Center is poised to continue making a positive impact for years to come.
